Can you tell us a bit about where you’re from and what it was like growing up there?
I'm from Cerritos, CA. It was pretty chill growing up there. It's a super calm suburb, so there was never anything too crazy going on there.
How did your family influence your taste in music, and what were some of the first artists or genres you connected with?
Both of my parents really influenced my music taste. My dad exposed me to a lot of rock, soul, and jazz music, and I think those ended up being the first genres that I really connected with.
You play several instruments—piano, drums, guitar. How have these skills shaped your approach to producing?
I feel like because I have a background in playing certain instruments, I find myself gravitating more towards live sounds in my music.
Can you tell us about your creative process? How has it changed since you started in 2020?
I feel like when I started making music, my approach was very structured, almost to a point that didn't allow me to be creative. Nowadays, I find myself experimenting with sounds and patterns until things sound cool to me.
You’ve mentioned wanting to start your own label and work as an A&R. What drives you toward these goals?
The past year working as an A&R has shown me that I have the skills to find and develop talent. The dream is to only work with artists who I genuinely believe in and elevate the sound.
You've built a solid network with other artists, especially fellow USC students. How has that community helped you grow?
I've found that my network of people in music is much stronger outside of USC than within it. I still have managed to connect with and work with some of the most talented producers and musicians at USC, which has also been super cool. There's been a lot of overlap recently with my network in and out of USC, and it's sick to see.
You’ve achieved a lot in a short time. What’s the next milestone you’re excited to reach?
I want to win a Grammy.
Finally, what’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I can do cool skate tricks.
