Swagga5 (@LongliveDankd) is one of the most consistent acts in the 757 section of VA. His wit and resourcefulness have always separated him from the rest of the pack. His newest 10 track project is just further proof he is on the right path. Money is the motivation, and if his tracks are sounding like this, he will complete it soon. After sharing singles like "Steppa" & "Megan," he finally unloaded the ode to his fallen homie Dankd Out. The project starts with an eerie but awesome verse from Dankd Out. He goes on to snap throughout the whole verse setting up the perfect opening for Swagga5 & Virginia's top street rapper Young Crazy to set the tone.
The 25-minute album is the perfect amount of time for a project in today's society. Not too long so you get bored, and by the time you hop in the car and get to your destination, it is almost over. 'Dogs Up: Long Live Dankd' also features production from Nard & B and other highly respected beatmakers. The music's quality is apparent throughout, and the sneaky features from Smoke DZA make it even more special. When your friend passes away, there are dozens of ways to honor them. This project was the perfect way for Swagga5 to express himself. Furthermore, he does a great job of ranging from entrepreneurship, loyalty, and financial literacy. These are all things young black men need to hear, so this album is a must-listen.
